Hình minh hoạ khái niệm xác suất

Xác suất là con số từ 0 đến 1 đo khả năng xảy ra của một biến cố; 0 nghĩa là không bao giờ xảy ra, 1 nghĩa là chắc chắn xảy ra.Probability is a number from 0 to 1 that measures how likely an event is; 0 means the event never occurs, and 1 means it is certain.

Intuition: Think of probability as the percentage of a dartboard taken up by a region: if the dart lands completely at random, a wider region is more likely to be hit.

Công thức chínhKey formula

P(A)=n(A)n(S)P(A) = \frac{n(A)}{n(S)}

Probability assigns to each event in a random experiment a number that reflects how likely that event is to occur. Three basic requirements govern these numbers: every probability lies between 0 and 1; the sample space has probability 1; and the probability of the union of two mutually exclusive events equals the sum of their probabilities.

When a finite sample space consists of equally likely outcomes, theoretical probability is the proportion of outcomes that are favorable. Empirical probability instead uses a relative frequency from observed trials; as the number of trials increases, this estimate approaches the true probability of the event, as described by the law of large numbers.

Ký hiệuNotation
  • •P(A)P(A), P(B)P(B), P(E)P(E) — xác suất của biến cố AA, BB, hoặc EE tương ứng
  • •P(Ac)=1−P(A)P(A^c) = 1 - P(A) — xác suất của biến cố đối lập.
  • •P(A)P(A), P(B)P(B), P(E)P(E) — probability of event AA, BB, or EE, respectively
  • •P(Ac)=1−P(A)P(A^c) = 1 - P(A) — probability of the complementary event.

For a count variable, "at least" does not mean "exactly." You must add the probability of hitting the threshold to the probabilities of all larger values.

Writing the inequality before computing keeps you from dropping cases.

Probability says nothing about the outcome of any single trial.

It describes relative frequency in the long run. A probability of 0.20 does not guarantee one success in every five trials, and the next trial is never "due."

State the quantity you are finding before you touch the calculator.

Record the symbol, the name of the distribution, and its parameters; a bare number does not show the reader which probability you computed.

Every probability must fall between 0 and 1.

A negative answer or one above 1 signals an algebra or calculator-entry error, so also ask whether the size of the value is reasonable.
