absolute convergenceVietnamese: hội tụ tuyệt đối
Hội tụ tuyệt đối (absolute convergence) là tính chất của chuỗi vô hạn mà khi lấy giá trị tuyệt đối của mọi số hạng rồi cộng lại, tổng vẫn hữu hạn.Absolute convergence is a property of an infinite series: the series converges even when every term is replaced by its absolute value.
Intuition: Imagine adding up all your income and expenses as if every one were an expense, and the total is still finite. Then your real ledger, where income offsets expenses, must also have a finite total.
A series converges absolutely if the sum stays finite after all negative signs are removed from its terms. For terms , this means converges. Every absolutely convergent series is convergent.
Example: converges absolutely because converges (the series converges when ). The converse is false: converges, but diverges. Such a series is said to converge conditionally.
Dùng khi dấu các số hạng không theo quy luật: xét trước; nếu hội tụ thì chuỗi gốc hội tụ (tuyệt đối).Use this when the signs of the terms follow no pattern: test first, and if it converges, the original series converges (absolutely).

A convergent series does not have to converge absolutely.
The alternating harmonic series converges, but diverges, so it converges only conditionally. Only one implication holds: absolute convergence implies convergence.
If diverges, you cannot yet conclude that diverges.
Terms that alternate in sign can cancel, and the original series may still converge. You must test itself, for example with the alternating series test.
Absolute convergence does not mean and have the same sum.
For example, while . In general, only holds.
Test first.
Write out this series, name the test you use, and state the result. If it converges, conclude "the series converges absolutely" and stop; no further testing is needed.
If diverges and the series alternates, verify all three conditions of the alternating series test.
The terms must alternate in sign, must be decreasing, and . Missing any one costs points. If does not approach , the series diverges and you need no further testing.
For a power series, check the two endpoints of the interval of convergence separately.
The ratio test gives only the radius of convergence. At each endpoint, substitute the value of and test the resulting numerical series. An endpoint with only conditional convergence is still included, so use a square bracket.
